What's your number?
Did you know that your metabolic rate can differ by hundreds of calories from people of the exact same height, weight, age and gender?
For the first time, technology previously available only in research facilities and hospitals makes it possible for your metabolism to be accurately measured through a simple, 10-minute breathing test.
This exclusive service is available by appointment at our office.
In addition to helping you lose weight, metabolic measurement is crucial when it comes to successful weight maintenance. Once we know our bodies' precise requirements, we can avoid eating any more than our calorie budget allows, or less than we can afford. We recommend that the metabolic test be taken as part of a full nutritional evaluation, to frame the results in the context of your individual health goals (see our RenDezvous program).
However, we also offer the metabolic test "a la carte" for those who simply want to find out how many calories they burn in a day.
What you get:
A comprehensive printout answering the following questions:
- Is my metabolism fast or slow?
- What is my daily calorie budget?
- How can I achieve "energy balance"?
A brief consult with one of our registered dietitians to discuss:
- Am I burning more or less than I'm eating?
- How can I boost my metabolism?
- How soon should I re-test my metabolic rate to see if I've improved?
Only $110!
How to prepare for the test :
Since the goal is to measure your metabolic rate at a true resting level, we recommend the following preparatory steps:
- Avoid eating a meal 3-4 hours before the test.
- Avoid exercising on the day of your test.
- Avoid the use of stimulants such as caffeine on the day of the test.
What to expect:
During the test, you'll be invited to recline in a comfortable position. You'll be given a mask or a mouthpiece to breathe into - exhaling directly into the metabolic analyzer.
You'll relax, close your eyes, and simply breathe for 10 minutes.
That's it. When the time's up, your metabolic rate will be measured, and those results will be used to calculate your daily calorie budget. We'll print out a clear, at-a-glance metabolic report outlining how you can use your metabolism to help you achieve your weight goals.
